Error code RQ383

You will see the following error message in H&R Block’s 2023 tax software if, on the Employment expenses page you claimed employment expenses for more than one job with different methods:

You’re claiming employment expenses for more than one job, but you used different methods to claim your expenses. To file your Québec return online using NETFILE, you need to use the same method to claim employment expenses for all your jobs. If you want to use different methods, you need to file your Québec return by mail. [error code: RQ383]

 

How do I fix this?

To fix this error, go back to the Employment expenses (T777, T777S, TP-59-V, TP-78-V, TP-78.4-V, TP-75.2-V, TP-64.3-V) page and change the method with which you’re claiming your employment expenses to be the same for all your jobs. You can do this by changing your answer to this question:

Which of these statements best applies to your working situation in 2023? This will determine what expenses you can claim.

If you want to claim your employment expenses using different methods, you won’t be able to file your Québec return with NETFILE; you’ll need to file your return by mail.
